Clomid (Clomifene Citrate)

Clomid (Clomiphene citrate) does not falls under the category of anabolic steroids, however, it lies under the category of sex hormones and it signifies an artificial estrogen. Mostly clomiphene citrate is used for the purpose of treating the desecrations of ovarian functions so that females can become pregnant. For this purpose, this drug excites the discharge of gonadotropins by releasing various hormones thus resulting in the restoring of the female’s ovulatory cycle.

The question arises in a lot of people’s mind that why this drug is used by athletes and body builders as this is especially planned for females but there are some of its actions that are extremely advantageous for males as well. The testes and work diencephalon in males is enhanced  by clomiphene citrate which makes it important for males. It arouses the pituitary gland so that it discharges more amount of gonadotropins that causes quick escalation in the sum of FSH and LH present in the blood. Ironically, clomiphene signifies itself as an Citrate artificial estrogen but it is in reality an anti-estrogen. It prevents the way of powerful estrogens that can cause aromatization. However, some estrogens are still activated and causes some level of aromatization. Higher retention of water in the body and feminization effects can be avoided totally by taking clomiphene citrate. This is because the anti-estrogenic effects of clomiphene are minor than that of Proviron and mostly this drug is taken for the purpose of stimulating testosterone.
